Hi

I go to file open to open my personal folders - and it prompts me for
a password - I never set up a password in Outlook - How do I gain
access to my personal folders>?
Thanks

Hi,
From Outlook (2003), choose File, Data File Management, then click on your
Personal Folder File (PST), then click the settings button. You can then
change the password by clicking on the change password button. Type the old
password and set the new password to nothing if you want it to open up
without prompting you. Also click on the "Save this password in your password
list" checkbox.

Hope this helps and have a fantastic day

Bzzt. Wrong. Thanks for playing, though. The OP said that Outlook is
asking for a password on a PST for which a password has never been set.
Please read the messages to which you reply.

This is a symptom of having manipulated your PST externally to Outlook while
Outlook had the file open or, perhaps, of hosting your PST on a network
share and having a network issue. The PST appears to have been corrupted.
If SCANPST.EXE can't fix it, and you're using Outlook 2002 or earlier (you
should always state your Outlook version when asking a question), then
perhaps this tool can strip the password:

If that doesn't work, or you have Outlook 2003 with a Unicode-format PST,
then you'll have to get a commercial tool like one of these:

Brian,
No need to be rude. I'm only trying to help people, I'm not in it for
one-up-man-ship. You'll not get a MVP by annoying people.

PS have a fantastic day.
