Persistent alert on Sun Java ActiveX

W

Walter Cohen

Ever since I updated my Java client with an update from
Sun I always get an alert when I boot up my machine about
an unknown ActiveX.
I always choose to allow (and not send to SpyNet) but it
again comes back at the next reboot.

I can't find any way to have the AntiSpyware beta always
allow it.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Walter

I've got machines on a variety of versions of Sun's java, and haven't ever
seen this kind of alert--I do get an alert during the installation process
for the new version.

As an aside--have you noticed that the old versions are left on your
machine, and may constitute a security vulnerability, to say nothing of a
waste of 100 megabytes or so.

I'm not sure what to suggest. I'm inclined to think that Microsoft
Antispyware is not working properly--that it should be remembering your
choice when you allow the unknown ActiveX control to be installed.

Try an update? Control Panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, change, update.
