Hi,
I'm hoping someone can direct me to some info that can help me with
this problem. I've been dealing with this intermittantly for several
years with both FP2000 and now FP 2003.
I keep getting an error message when I try to publish.
First it seems to hang forever saying "Processing web updates for
http://www.clearwaterglass.com". Then this box comes up:
"The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you
are trying to connect to a FrontPage server, check with the server's
administrator to make sure the FrontPage server extensions are
installed properly."
I always compose my web pages locally, and then publish to the server.
I am using a theme, and the theme is on all pages and is never changed,
nor are the formats of the banners or link bars ever changed.
After this occurs, when the web site is viewed with a browser, it looks
fine - but the next time I try to publish, it republishes all the
previous new images and pages as if they were never sent the first
time.
I occasionally can resolve the issue by recalculating hyperlinks, or by
opening and re-saving default.htm. Removing and reinstalling FP
extensions on the server never solves the problem. Usually the only
solution is to have the entire web removed from the server, and to
re-publish the whole thing. The last time I did that, it published OK
once, and then today when I added a new page, the errors recurred.
I'm getting very frustrated at this point and do not know if the
problem is some problem inherent in the web site I created, a problem
with my host server, or something I am doing as I create new pages.
Any guidance would be appreciated. If this has already been discussed,
I apologize - just give me the proper keywords to search and I'll try
to find it.
