Dear Sir/Madam,
I keep getting a error message
"You dont have permission to access this database"
when I try and open a access 97 databse
from windows 2000.
the database was created from access 97,and on the
windows 2000 pc,it is running access 2000.
I have read all the help and tryed all options,
short of a clean install of windows 2000.

Your help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Stephen Tracey

That's not a phenomenon of running under Windows 2000 nor of opening an
Access 97 database with Access 2000. Could it be that the database has been
secured? If so, you'll need the workgroup file, and join it before trying to
open the DB. It could also be that the database is corrupted, in which case
you might try (on a copy) to Compact and Repair with Access 2000.

I am certain that a "clean install of Windows 2000" will be a waste of time
and effort -- Windows 2000 is simply NOT the problem.

Please follow up or clarify here in the newsgroup, not by e-mail. Thanks.
