period leader in table

I get how to do line leaders, but when I do a period leader inside a Table,
the dots don't show up. Even when I cut and paste a line that has a period
leader in it, the characters paste, but not the dots.
Are period leaders just not allowed in tables?

Can you see periods in table cells when you simply type them? Maybe
your font size is too small for them to show up on your screen, or
maybe your rows/cells have a fixed height that masks the dots.

Say you are doing manual numbering.
type "1.", press Ctrl+Tab, then your text.
Format, Tab, enter a Tab Stop Position, say 1cm (or whatever distance you
wish), check the Leader No 2 (......), Set button, OK.
You should now see a period leader between your number and text.
If you are doing autonumbering, the tab position should already be in place,
just select the leader required.

This worked; thank you.
Not sure exactly what I was doing wrong before, but got it now.

How did you get the line leaders? The dot leaders work just the same
way.
