Performance Check during install

<rant>Dear Microsoft.

It would be really nice to avoid the whole performance check during
Vista's installation since the result isn't really useful until updated
drivers have been installed.

More importantly, for the love of Dancing Steve Balmer, ask me questions
at the start of the install, and at the end. If you insist on doing the
performance check, fine, but do it before prompting me for information.
</rant>

I spent the better part of the last two days rebuilding some Vista test
lab images, and have waited for the performance thing at least three
dozen times. Grrr.

Is there a trivial way to avoid/skip this step without learning how to
build unattended installations (yes, that's on the todo list too, but
I'm not there yet)

Shoulda been "Dear Microsoft Customer".

There aren't any MS employees monitoring this area.

Sure there are.

They might not post regularly, but they do post occasionally. Knowing a
couple people on the inside, a lot more is read then you might think
when it comes to feedback.

(Hi Darrell)

If it makes you feel better to think that rants are paid attention to
in these groups, wonderful.

I would suspect MS has its hands full with problems that are reported
through channels that were specifically established for that purpose.

The problem is that is hit and miss. Only if a question happens to be one
that is a concern in an employee's product team will you get a response.
The chances of a member of a product team that owns the area of your
question dropping by is pretty small.

When OOBE appears, type SHIFT-F10 and get a cmd window, type lusrmgr.msc
to open a box and enable the administrator account OR create a new
account for your daily use. If lusrmgr.msc doesn't work, try 'control
userpasswords2' After the account is set up, type taskmgr into the cmd
windows and kill the OOBE.
