Pen/Highlighter functions available but don't work

When I am in Slide Show mode, I have the option of selecting Ballpoint pen,
Felt Tip and Highlighter, however, once I select any one of them, my mouse
does not change from an arrow to a selection pointer. So when I click on text
within the slide, the show advances.

Is this feature only available to TabletPC users? If so, I would think the
options would be greyed out unless your using TabletPC.

Has anyone been able to get these pens to work during a Slide Show on
regular PC?

It should work on PC's as well.

In versions before 2007 you could omit to install "handwriting" which killed
this feature. I don't think this is an option in 2007.

Does ctrl P (for pen) do anything in show mode?

Also on my laptop selecting "Use hardware graphics acceleration" in Slide
Show > Set Up Show affects this feature. For me it still sort of works but
with lots of artifacts. Worth checking that it is off.

CTRL P doesn't change the pointer, and again, when I click text it advances
the slide. Hardware accelation didn't change anything either. Good
suggestions.

It's also not a presentation specific issue as new presentations don't work
either. You led me to think maybe this is machine specific. I am going to
check at home. I'm wondering if it is a setup issue on these machines at work
as they are installed via network image I believe.
