PC Re-Booting After Upgrade

I just upgraded my CPU and Ram, both of which are compatible with my mobo,
and now my PC re-boots after about an hour. Can anyone tell me why this is
happening?

Cheers.

check the cpu temperature...
it could possibly be overheating

I checked in SiSoft Sandra and it says the following:

Board Temp 25C/77F
CPU Temp 25C/77F
Power/Aux Temp 53C/127.4F

I'm not sure how accurate Sandra is and I'm also not sure what the correct
temp for a 3.0GHz Prescott should be.

Cheers.

even though i don't have the specs for the max temp of the cpu...
but 77F is definately NOT a problem

can you put back your old RAM and give the thing another try?

Lots of hardware!

What size power supply are you running?

I'd suspect the power supply.

Have a nice one...

It's an Enermax 400W. Should be OK I think.

Si

But you added a Prescott!

Check the Intel site for specifications/recommendations on PSU's.

There are a few Enermax ones on the Intel but mine isn't one of them but I'm
still sure it should be OK to run things or am I being completely naive?

Cheers.

Sorry, I'm talking complete rubbish. My PSU is a Zalman 400W one which is
not on the Intel list. Should this concern me even though it's a quality
PSU?

Cheers.

Try to swap the RAM to another slot.

My warcry...QUALITY Power Supply, QUALITY Power Supply, QUALITY Power
Supply, didn't even mention it and a poor one or too small one is
probably the cause of the most problems written into these boards.

OK, here's the latest. Last night, mainly because I was out of ideas, I
decided to disable Hyperthreading to see if that would help. I then ran
Spysweeper, which usually caused the PC to reboot after about 2 minutes, and
low and behold, it stayed on. I've been running it all day and it seems fine
now (that's tempting fate). Does this mean I can't use Hyperthreading at
all?

Many thanks to everyone for your help and advice.

Cheers.

Have you tried updating the BIOS? And you sure do have a lot of stuff running.
What about power supply. Looks like you could use at least a 380w PS. Check for
heat buildup as well. Prescott's run pretty hot a could cause a reboot if
running too hot.
