PC problem, overheated?

Hello,

Recently my computer starting shutting itself off, then it seemed like the
power would go on and off (the leds on the cd and power flashed) until I
pulled out the electricity-plug. Then if I replugged it would go OK for a
few minutes, and then do the same thing. I suspect this has something to do
with overheating. The temp was however only about 50-50*C on the CPU and
37-40*C on the system.

Suddenly, a few days ago, the computer suddenly turned itself off, and
wouldn't come on. It seemed like there was no power. So I was wondering if
somebody knew what this can be? Is it the on/off button which doesn't work
or do I need to change the power supply?

Best regards

I had something similar - turned out to be a failed power supply but
even after buying a new one I still had problems because the repeated power
failures had done electrical damage to the motherboard so I needed to send
that off for repair.
Replace the PSU with a decent 300w or higher PSU and hope the
motherboard is still good. In my case I'd added a CDrewriter to my PC and
although everything had worked fine it had increased the power demand and it
took a few months to kill the PSU.
