PC Game: Battlefield Vietnam & Video Card

N

Newbie

I am trying to research and get the best video card to play this game at
1024x768 resolution without having to fork out a lot of money.

If anyone has any recommendations, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Without knowing what the game calls for in the way of minimum system
specifications (you didn't see fit to pass that information along to us), I
would say that you need the most expensive video card made, one gig of
system RAM and at least a 64 bit processor and matching operating system! Is
that a good answer?

Now, if you were to give some information about what the game
needs...............

If you knew half as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!

B.S.- if you were interested in helping a 30 second google would get you
that info. More importantly, what are his system specs so you could help him
select a video card that would match up best to his system w/o going
overboard.
On second thought- maybe that was your best answer based on your knowledge
and experience- in which case, you should step away from the keyboard.

And the OP can't do that 30 second search. He is the one who wants the game.
I would think that he would take a bit of time to research it (the game).
You need a bit of knowledge first! Then you can expand upon that knowledge
by asking an intelligent question.

And what is stopping the orininal poster from taking his lazy a*s to the
manufacturers web site to find out what they recommend!

Also, I notice you offered zero help on the subject! So why did you even post?

Also this is not the OP's first post on the subject.

Basically he has already been helped.

Battlefield Vietnam video requirements:

DirectX 9 compatible video card (AGP video card with 64 MB or more memory
and one of these chipsets is required: NVIDIA GeForce 3 or greater; ATI
Radeon 8500 or greater

If he has the game, system requirements are on the box. However, I don't
know of anyone who wasn't new at some point. There is a learning curve here-
including use of the message boards. Pointing someone in the right direction
and a lesson in etiquette may be appropriate, but why the slam?

I posted because I thought the response was uncalled for. As the OP didn't
list his system specs, I don't have a recommendation. Thought I implied that
in the first post.

By now you should know that whenever you want to enlist this kind of
help, you need to give enough info about your hardware (systems
components) to help those helping you.

Belarc advisor is a good old standby!
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

You can easily see:
Processor
Memory size
Display
etc...

the first line of each will usually suffice in this case, e.g.:

All easily cut and pasted from the Belarc window:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
2.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4S8X REV 1.xx
1024 Megabytes Installed Memory
Matrox Millennium G550 [Display adapter]

This is one of my work systems. The only thing that Belarc left out
was the system slots. We might need to know what type of slot your
video card is in (if at all). This is important in your case, but the
info can be had by yahoo-ing your Motherboard model # and looking at
its specs.

HTH!

The graphics are not that good. I think that you could play it with an
ATI 9550 card. I bought the game and I am sorry that I did not play it
first. It is really not that good (compared to HL2).
