No !

You are asking in the WRONG place. Buy PC Cillin or use a free AV application.

He already does, if his headers are to be believed:

X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0545-1, 11/09/2005), Outbound message

I didn't look at the headers-I had them set to short-lol
BTW-now I see by your headers you are using OE5.5 Is there a reason you
haven't upgraded?

I'm not interested in the patch/upgrade cycle OS vendors want you to
engage in. My system is secure because of my own efforts, despite
using an outdated and vulnerable version of OE. I'm not troubled by
malware at all.

Just curious-why use OE at all?

Probably because I'm thoroughly familiar with it, and have no reason
to change. I know all its shortcomings, and they are not an issue for
me. Other news clients have different problems, and some things it
does better. For example, OE manages multiple news servers very easily
and smoothly.

Similar to my reasonings but I use FidoLook to overcome its shortcomings and limitations. I
still get the look and feel of OE but launch "FidolookSL.exe" not "MSIMN.EXE". Others use
OE QuoteFix but FidoLook does what it does but much more.

I use TB because I have multiple yahoo and hotmail accounts and it was
easier to use webmail extensions for TB then yahoopops or something
similar. But I use XanaNews for newsreading, works well for me. I had
connection issues with OE and TB using newsgroups(too many connections
error messages)which I don't get using XanaNews.

<6Iodf.2460$MY4.1935@trnddc03> after much thought, came up with this
jewel:

[why use OE]

similar. But I use XanaNews for newsreading, works well for me. I had
connection issues with OE and TB using newsgroups(too many connections

Some servers have a connection limit, and OE is rather wasteful of
them. This can be overcome by appropriate group settings, but may be
a nuisance if you want to sync a large number of groups from such a
server.
