PC being built - any tips when ordering

helloWorld

I'm ordering all the components that I need to build myself a hi-spec PC.

Just wondering if those with experience of building this way have any tips.
ie., do I need to order any particular types of cables or do most DVD RW/
CDRWunits (or other components) come with the required cables etc.

The PC components are:

Athlon 2600 Processor
K7N2-L SKT Motherboard
Coolermaster Centurian ATX Tower Case (silver!)
SuperFlower Real 470w quadruple fan PSU, AMD and Intel Compliant
1GB RAM (2x512)
1 Maxtor 120GB Serial ATA 8MB cache 7200rpm - OEM
1 PCI Firewire card
1x Sony DVD Dual / R / RW IDE burner
1x Sony CD-RW/DVD ROM
Windows XP Pro
Creative GeForce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP8 - TV out

Any advice regarding unexpected eventualities would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Dave

Look for an Antec, Enermax or Sparkle/Fortron power supply of 400W+. The
Coolermaster is a beaut.

Overspec the memory, for example XP2600 uses PC2700, buy PC3200 at a
minimum, it costs very little more and gives you some upgrade potential (or
overclocking potential).

Ditch the no-name power supply. Try a Fortron FSP400-60PNU instead. Also
watch the RAM, don't go generic. If you are looking to save money, try
Kingston brand. I use Kingston in several computers, including two
notebooks. Rock-solid stable, and fairly cheap. Your motherboard should
come with the cable you need for the hard drive. But you should purchase an
extra-long cable for the optical drives, so they can be placed wherever you
want in that tower. -Dave

The Asus crw 5224a cdrw has been voted by P.C. Pro A as the best there
is.

And buy from crucial.com
