PC#1 opens all web pages, PC#2 only opens some....

Hi, there are 2 PC's in my office. One will open all web
pages yet the other one will not open some of the same
pages. If you do a right-click/properties on the links on
the web pages when using PC #2, and copy and paste the
link into the address bar, the page opens fine. However,
just left clicking on the link opens a blank window.

I am beginning to think a IE file is corrupted on PC#2 and
IE will need to be uninstalled and then reinstalled to
correct this problem.

Both PCs are Win 2000, IE6.

Thanks for your help.

Is there any anti-spy/adware or firewall software installed? What happens if
you right-click on a link and choose Open in new window? if you click on the
refresh button?

Since uninstalling and reinstalling IE is not a big task you could try it,
if all else fails.

There is no anti-spy/adware like Spybot on PC#1 or PC#2.
If you right-click on a link and choose Open in a New
Window you get the same result...an empty window. Both
PCs are behind a firewall, and your question makes me
think the settings may be different between the PCs. I
will explore that avenue before uninstalling &
reinstalling. Thanks for the tips, and if anyone else
wants to chime in, feel free!

Hi,
First, clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content.) It's quick and easy and may help. It's
often recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Then, have you checked for malware?
Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
