PayPal Button using template-how add discount?

P

pattyjamas

I have a PayPal button on my website.
I am a consultant. So if I am at a clients location and they want to
pay, I click on my button and enter my login/PW, then select the
template I want

Very simple template (static fields-entries will vary) I created via
PayPal. It has a few rows with Qty, Description, Rate, Amount. And it
totals it for you when you enter data,

**I want to have a discount field so I can enter a discount. This
could be as simple as 1 for the quantity and -$50 for the price

But PayPal does not take or use the negative numbers.

Any way around this?

Thanks
Patty

The answer would be found within Paypal site, not here.
Couldn't you just invoice them for a lesser amount?

Thanks. Sure could invoice for a lesser amount, but wanted it to
reflect the discount in dollars. Perhaps I could put a note in there
but...

Looked at PayPal site and on Experts-Exchange first. Could not really
find the best place to post this so found this newsgroup that had a
few postings on Pay-Pal.

There is a merchant place on PayPal to ask questions but I do not have
a merchant account. That is a paid monthly account for mostly eBay
sellers and such where you can add code and have other integration
features to shopping carts for a website.

Thanks

Since you have a PayPal account login to your account, then go to the help center and ask for help.

FYI: If you have a business account, then you are a merchant.

In eBay check out "seller discounts or charges" , there's also info in
Paypal about this.

From Paypal info;

"This field allows sellers to enter discounts or charges that may not be
related to shipping, insurance, or tax. For example, sellers may offer
discounts on multiple purchases or charge fees for gift wrapping.

This feature can be turned off within My eBay:

Here's How:

Log in to your eBay account.
Click My eBay.
In the My Account section, click Preferences.
Under Payments from Buyer, click Edit.
Uncheck the box that says "Allow buyers to edit total during Payment to
account for additional costs or discounts."
Click Submit. "

maybe that will work (?)
