Pattern changes for no reason

When I enter information, whether it be numberic or alpha,
the cell pattern color changes. There are cells in the
worksheet that have a color pattern other then automatic,
but to have them change on other cells to the same color
as the "non-automatic" cells as the enter key is used is a
little bewildering.

I usually have the following software open - Lotus notes,
SAP, Excel, and an AS/400 session open (Rumba/Telnet) and
I have just transferred data from SAP to Excel.

Has anyone run across this?

Is conditional formatting set for the cells?

Go to FORMAT>CONDITIONAL FORMATTING and click DELETE
Select conditions 1, 2 and 3 and click OK

reviewed all the tabs for any conditional formatting and
did not find any to delete.

How about macros - Do you get a message when you open the file saying that macros are in the file.
They could be event macros that are changing the colour of the cells.
