pasting info into multiple columns

Hi,

How can I paste info separated by the "|" character into multipl
columns?

I have:

a | b | c
d | e | f
g | h | i
j | k | l

but when I paste into execl, I don't want it to throw everything int
column A, instead I want 3 columns.

Thanks.....

After pasting, choose Data/Text to Columns. Select Delimited, then click
Next, enter the pipe in the Other text box and click Finish.

I'm not aware of a way to do this all in one step using
just a paste, but once the data is pasted into Excel it
can then be separated using the Data -> Text to Columns
menu option. Paste the data in, make sure it's
highlighted, select the menu option, choose
the "delimited" option, identify the parse character
("|"), and go to town.

Alternatively but similarly, you can import and parse the
data from a text file into Excel using Data -> Import
External Data -> Import Data. The same procedure applies
as described above.
