Paste Link Issue in Office 2003

M

Marilyn

Hello,

In any MS Office program when I copy an item and go to Paste, Paste Link all
I get is a blank square box. For example: If I copy a Range from Excel and
Paste Link that range in PowerPoint or Word all I get is a blank box.

I register the ole32.dll file but I still get the same issue, I ran a
repair, and re-installed office and same issue occurs.

Has anyone heard of this happening?

Thanks,

In Word 2003, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the
"Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print
tab | check the "Drawing objects" box | OK.

If the previous suggestion doesn't fix the problem, then try
reducing or turning off hardware acceleration in Start | Control
Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced | Troubleshoot. If this
fixes the problem, then you might want to check the website of
the manufacturer of your video card/graphics adapter to see if
there is an updated driver available.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. My Word options were exactly the way you
describe them and turning off the accelaration did not work.

I get this error with any of the Office Applications (i.e. PPT, Word, & Excel)

Thanks,

You asked (and I answered) the same question about a week ago
(see
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...agement/browse_thread/thread/231f6e76b49996af
) except that you said the problem occurred in Word 2007. Have
you heard of Münchausen syndrome (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munchausen_syndrome )?

It would help to know whether the supposed problem occurs in one
particular document or in all documents that have linked objects,
and whether in one particular user's computer or in all
computers. One particular document + all computers = probably a
corrupt Word document. All documents + one particular user's
computer = probably a display driver or hardware problem on that
user's computer.

I appreciate the time you have taken to write your response, although it was
extremely rude and un-necessary. I guess it's always best to gather facts
before ASSuming anything. The question you so kindly answered last week was
regarding equations in a document and nowhere in that question did it imply
that I was Copying and then using Paste Special to Paste Link the equation.
That issue was for one user in my group experiencing that issue in his Word
documents. Although I had already found the answer prior to your response I
still appreciate the time you take to respond to individuals like myself who
are looking for serious expert answers and instead get confronted with
sarcastic/pompous responses.

Now, the issue that I posted yesterday is for a different user in my group
and since it's obvious I did not do a good job at communicating the issue let
me explain it to you again. This person copies excel ranges, or word tables,
goes into PPT and uses the Paste Special option to Paste link the excel range
or the word table. Instead of getting the image he gets a blank box. If he
tries to Paste link anything in Word he gets the same thing. This happens
with any and every document regardless of the application being used.

Now, as my mother so rightfully instilled in me... If you have nothing NICE
to say then.... Say nothing at all.

Thanks,
