my son has opened his own e-mail and has password
protected it and several other programs and files is
there any way I can find those programs and there
password? any help would be great.

Politely ask your son for the password. If he refuses, sign on
as the Administrator and delete his account, then create a
Limited User account for him. Be forewarned, your son will
likely have issues with you if you do this.

Why delete his account? Can't you just change it to a "limited
account" and, for that matter, give him a new password. That way,
he'll have to come back to you for the password and you haven't
deleted all his data. In short, you've done nothing irreversible.
