Passwords/user names

How can I erase old passwords stored on my harddrive (or wherever they are
stored)-
Upon using a program that reveals all kinds of pc info on my pc, I noticed
that I was able to also see user names & passwords there that I have used.
Some were really old and I dont use them anymore or go to those former
websites.
ANy suggestions how I can get rid of these passwords and prevent from them
to get 'remembered' to begin with?
Windows Xp home sp2 IE6

Some cookies store names and passwords unencrypted and therefore are
visible, to remove these try:
Karen's Cookie Viewer: http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptcookie.asp

Take a look at CCleaner as a tool to remove Internet history info, cookies,
temp files,
and in your case the 'auto complete form history' option, and other junk.
In the 'Windows' tab listing check the item types you want deleted.
Also available is customization, see Options/Custom to add any
other/additional folders you want files deleted from.

Thanks JS for your answer. I already am a user of CCleaner and I made sure
that the auto complete box was checked- Still after running the program,
those same user names and passwords were still visible.
I also tried Karens CV. I deleted all the cookies that it found. BTW, the
program that is able to view these passowords/user names/web sites is one
called SIW (system info for Windows)
I would hate to think that it someone got to my pc, that all they need is
this program and they got all the info needed. any mroe things to try? thx

Thanks so very much for your help-! ! ! !

Assuming the cookie are gone and autocomplete is cleared the next thing I
would check if the registry. Use regedit to search for any passwords that
may be stored.

Highlight the name in the dropdown list and press the Delete key.
