Password required?

I installed XP pro clean formatting the disk first. It
completed normally and then entered a sign-on screen asking
for the administrator password. I was never asked for or
set a password during the install. I cannot get into XP and
am locked out. I tried to hit return in place of a PW and
that did not work either. How can I overcome this and get
XP to complete the initial boot?

If leaving the password blank does not work, something was entered.
Carefully thing of what you typed during the install process.
what names for you and your computer did you use?
Perhaps you entered one of those for the password.

The only thing I typed was one users-name as I was required
to. I tried that as the PW (all cases tried) and it did not
work. I also tried to replace "Adminstrator" in the sign-on
screen the the users-name and that did not work either.

I cannot even get into windows to make a fix. Safe mode did
not help as it also asked for the administrator password.

Since you just performed a Clean install, do it again.
