password required after going back to computer when monitor turned

I have the power saving scheme on my computer set to "Home/Office Desk" so
the monitor goes black after twenty minutes of no activity. I am also the
main (only)user of my computer and must have a user account with password
protection to make my home office network work. Although I do not sign off or
switch user accounts and my screen goes blank I still have to enter a
passwrord to get restarted again when I "raise" the computer again after
leaving it for more than 20 minutes. How do I fix this obvious flaw? If the
computer has just not been used for a while, but not turned off in any way
shouldn't it just "rise and shine" without all the fuss?

Not if you also have the screen saver set to "On resume, password
protect" in Display Properties.

Or have the "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"
option set in Power Options.

Kurt, thanks for responding. However, I was using the "Windows XP" screen saver that has no properties that can be set and I had the checkoff blocks clear in the power scheme so it was not supposed to Prompt fo password...

I have since changed to no screen saver and will see if that helps.

It "should." About the screen saver setting thr, "On resume, password
protect" check box can be found next to where you set the duration of
time the screen saver waits to come on. It is greyed out, when you set
the screen saver to (None).

Hope that solves it for you, as it SHOULD work. Good Luck.
