Password recovery - excel 2003

Hi there. I've got a couple of excel 2003 spreadsheets that have been
password protected by an ex-employee and no older backups are available.
Can anyone suggest some reliable software to recover them , ideally free

you can use Google to find some tool - keep in mind that tool for free will
have some limitation (e.g. 3 letter psw only, ...).

Hi Alex,

I don't know if 2003 is the same but in 2000 you can simply copy the entire
sheet (use cntrl + a ) to a new workbook and it loses it's protection.

Nope , this is password protected on the whole file so I can't open it.

I've seen "excel key" which will do the job for $60 , but if I can save $60
it's money we'd rather keep in our pockets :0)

Please stop posting your ads here. XL password deletion is far easier than
recovery, and there are many (free) solutions out there.
That said, password protectiong documents remains a silly idea.
