Password protection requirement

Is this possible?

We have the following password requirements:
The user should not ever be prompted for the password from the PPC.
IF the PPC is connected a to PC via ActiveSync, then the computer
attempting to access information on the
PPC would need to have the device's password.

Setting this from the control panel turns the password on/off for both
human entry and network access. Control panel does not provide a way
to separate them.

Is there any way to set up a password on the device so that human
users don't have to enter it, but computers attempting to access it
do? If so, will both Platform Builder 5.0 and 6.0 do this or do I need
6.0? Can I accomplish this without Platform Builder?

Any insights, links, information, etc very much appreciated.

Unless you're a PPC OEM, you can't accomplish this with or without Platform
Builder. PB is not the tool used for creating PPC/WinMo apps (they use a
derivative of it), and the WinMo tool is not something the average Joe can
get.

What you're trying to do is insert yourself into the ActiveSync pipeline,
and I don't think thats possible at all.

This would in no way do what he wants. Read his post. He wants the *PC* to
ask for a password when trying to get info from the device over ActiveSync.

You could build your own power on password screen that provides this
facility.

IIRC you can provide the activesync pin and that will ask the user (on
the PC) for it when the device connects to activesync, but you could
then provide a simpler, or no, password screen actually on the
device...
