Password protect shared network folder

Hi!
I've looked high up and low down but am unable to resolve
this problem. On Win2K, i share several of my folders on a
network. For one of these folders, i want to be able to
specify a password that a user must specify every time
they want to access the folder. I've tried several
lock/hide/password folder applications, but they all hide
the folder. I want the folder visible, but just that any
user who tries to access it is prompted for a password.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

As far as I can remember, that functionality never existed in Windows NT
based machines. The closest you can get to prompting for a username and
password is by restricting the file and folder permissions to exclude
Everyone, and adding only the users you want to access the folder. If a
user who isn't in the list tries to access the resource, he or she is
prompted for a username and a password, then they would have to put in a
valid username/password combination (that's in the file/folder permissions
for that share) and would then gain access.

Hello,
i'm affraid that's not true because, when user, who isn't in the list, try
to access this folder, will be notify with "access deny" notification.
