password prompt

My daughters 3 month old laptop with XP Professional
suddenly started asking for a password prompt which it
had never done before. She never set up a password, so it
will not let her log on and get past the password prompt.
Is there any way to bypass this prompt without re-loading
XP Professional? Any idea why XP suddenly started this?

If none was ever given,press the enter key when prompted
for it.Once in xp,go to user accounts,adjust to no pass-
word.If the enter key wont let you in,shutdown computer,
on starting,tap the F8 key,select safe-mode,then open
in Administrator,then reset user account,or if account
is corrupt,create a new one.
