Password on Backend

How do I make the backend secure? I can't seem to be able to put a password
on it and when I make the folder it's in read only then the users can't use
the datbase properly. How can I get around this and make it secure?

Your BE must allow users read/write/edit/ and delete rights and so does the
folder it resides in. The way you secure it is to secure your network and
make users have to login to the front end to have access to the BE. You can
also write different FE's for each user so that they only have the reports or
forms that they need.
