Password fails, switched from domain to workgroup

I am "helping" a friend reconfigure her old work computer
for use in her home. In My Computer/Properties/Network
Identification, I changed her computer name, and changed
it from a Domain to a Workgroup. After rebooting, she
can no longer log on to Windows with her username and
password ("The system could not log you on. Make sure
your user name and domain are correct..."

Dear God, what have I done?

You shouldn't have changed those networksettings. The only thing your friend
can do is bring the computer back to the network where it belongs and ask
the system administrator to rejoin it.

Dan,

She may have to ask an administror on the domain that it was in for a
password. If the password is not know then you may be looking at a
reinstall.

Thank you, Bobby. I've asked for the Administrator
password, if they know it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Dear Marina: Thank you for your advice. My soon-to-be-
ex-friend is trying to see if the Administrator user was
left on it, and if they can get her a password.
Otherwise, I guess I've stepped in it this time, huh?
Thanks again, Dan.
