password blocks import .pst file in upgrade install Outlook 2003

I installed Office Profesional 2003 over Office Professional 2000. In the
process Outlook 2003 was installed over Outlook 2000. I forgot to create a
pst file prior to installation. Later, I noticed that during the
installation, the files were backed up into a new pst file on my system. I
cannot import the pst file because a password was assigned to the file that I
do not know because the install apparently created it. Is there any way that
I can retrieve this file since Microsoft has a policy not to "break" any
passwords, even if their program created them. Can anyone help me here?
Thanks. By the way, there are no passwords on any of my programs because I
am the sole user.

There is a handy tool to strip the password of a pst-file. The funny thing
is that this tool wasn't even written for stripping the password of a
pst-file but for upgrading the pst-file to a newer format. Stripping the
password was just a (handy) side effect. Don't use this tool for any illegal
activities!!!

Read the pstread.txt file included in the zip before using the utility!
