Password became invalid

I have only one administrator account on my XPpro sp1. After change the
keyboard layout, I was prompted to re-start and I can not login anymore
since then. (The keyboard layout has no difference at 26 alphabets, just
three Finnish alphabets at position outside the main area).
I tried recovery console, it did not work.
I tried to mount the NT partition under Linux and use a Password change
utility to blanked the pwd and set a new within system32/config/sam
security, it did not work either.
I guess it is not the question of password right or wrong, the login process
itself is wrong. What should I do now excepting re-install everything?

Thanks for any help.

Vince.

If you can get to the welcome screen just hit ctrl+alt+del two times and it
will reveal the hidden built in Administrator account. You can log into this
account to change your own accounts password.

Hi, Alex:
Thanks for your help. When I evoked that login window as you prompted, I
found the problem is still related to the layout of the keyboard. It was
slipped into a wrong type. By typing all the keys in the user name field, I
found all the keys are totally wrong except A and M. I wrote down all the
actual input, then entered pwd following what I wrote, I was able to login
and found the type was that US-Dvorak, what a mess! The utility CHNTPW I
used to change pwd actually did work, but during login, what I typed is not
what the keyboard tells.

Thanks again.

Vince.
