password and outlook express

outlook express will not remember my password. I have
gotten the instructions for changing the registry but am
afraid to use that. It says to open the registry and
look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected
Storage System Provider. All I see is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER ...anyone know what is going on?

thanks

Notice the backslashes in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider

These indicate sections of a path. These are very similar to a path that
you would use in Windows Explorer. You need to follow the path, step by
step.

Open Registry Editor to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Click the + to the left of it. The window will change to show that branch
of the registry extended. A list will appear slightly indented underneath
HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Time to move to the next section of the path.
Click the + next to Sofware. Window changes again.
Keep clicking +'s and moving further along the path until you get to the
desired section "Protected System Storage Provider."

Even if you're still not brave enough to make these changes, you should at
least try the navigation steps so that you can become more accustomed to
the structure of the registry.

Don't know if this will help but Doug Knox has written a set of directions
for this procedure that is a little easier to follow than the directions in
the MS Knowledge Base article:
