Pass on Credentials

This is the only place I could think of asking this question.

I know that Sysprep passes on the administrator user id and password for up
to 3 logins after running. Is there a stripped out or stand alone application
from MS which can script the local administrator user id and password on a
workstation? I need to install a program which requires the local
administrator to log in after first reboot. If I could package the
administrator user ID and password into the software delivery package, i can
pass on the credentials and avoid visiting each machine and logging on as
administrator.

Any takers on this one?

There is no way I know of to do that other than setting up autologon with
the administrator account which is very insecure. If this is a domain
computer and the application is a .msi package you could assign the
application to the computer via Group Policy Software Installation. You
might be able to access the computer via Remote Desktop which also may help.
You might try posting in the setup_deployment newsgroup to see if anyone
there has any ideas which may include Remote Installation [RIS] images. ---

Thank you Steve,

I did go out to the deployment section and was able to determine that the
best way to proceed was with the registry key which allows auto logon. Not
only does it work for XP in a domain environment but also with 2000. Security
concerns have been assuaged by making sure any changes are also undone as
soon as the package has been delivered.
