partitions lost

I installed a 2nd HD under Windows XP as slave.
After booting at the task-bar a window opened saying new hardware were
found, but the window closed after about 1/2 minute without
saying the installation were successful.

Then I not only couldn't access the 2nd HD, but also the partitions
d:,e:,f: on the 1st HD were lost !
And this persisted after removing the 2nd HD again.

How can I get my old partitions back ?
Shouldn't they display a warning that this might happen
on the HDs ?

You already have an open thread on this question. Starting a
second thread is considered bad manners because it leads to
duplication of effort by potential respondents.

yes, sorry. That post didn't show up to me after one day, so I thought
it was lost.

I didn't get the data back, but could install the 2nd HD meanwhile.
You have to format these HDs before you can use them,
which is complicated and takes about 1 hour.
The vendor didn't say this, nor was there a note with the parcel
or on the HD.

Sorry you could not get your data back. As I said in the
other thread, I have never experienced anything like this
in spite of having connected additional disks in lots of
different systems.

Formatting a new disk under WinXP takes a few minutes
if you tick the box "Quick Format".
