Partitioning the C drive

I have XP (home Ed) on my C drive and I want to create a 2nd partition on
this. I have been to disk management but this does not appear to allow me to
make a new partition on this drive.

Is this possible to do this and if so how can one accomplish this ?

Thanks

Windows XP has no native tools to split a disk. You need to use a
third-party tool such as Acronis DiskDirector.

Yes, it's possible, but Windows XP doesn't have that capability; it
requires a third-party program.

Why do you want to do this?

I have an application installed which is not behaving as it should be. A
suggestion from the apps forum (below in quotes)suggested to create a new
partition on my HDD and run the app from there i.e. -

"If you wish to go further with experimenting, then you could try and
install another copy of the OS on a different partition and install only
'APPX' to test it on a brand newly-installed system and see if you still
get this issue."

As for a third party untility, I have looked at EASEUS Partition Master
4.1.1 Professional Edition but unless I am mistaken this wont allow me to
partition a HDD that has an OS installed or data on it. The impression I got
was that a HDD needs to be reformatted before one can create partitions (??)

Well, OK, but that doesn't look like a particularly good suggestion to
me.

I don't know that particular utility, but it's hard to believe that
the drive needs to be reformatted before one can create partitions. If
that were the case, the utility wouldn't be needed.

I have sent an email to Acronis and EASEUS with my query and will get back
to the group once I have received a reply.

Easeus will let you resize any partition on the drive.
Shrink the operating partition and it will create an unallocated space.
You can create a new partition on any unallocated space.
