The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

The alternative is to perform a "clean install" of Windows XP:

| I have recently puchased a new comp with xp as o/s with a 160G hardrive it came with a 2G fat32 partition. I
see the partition contains a ghost and must have something to do with system restore. I want to partition 20G
of the 160G to run win98 (fat32) but it is already formatted in ntsf. Do I have to backup and re-format? If
I do how can I format the boot drive(ntsf) so that I can reinstall win98 first.
