Use Utorrent http://utorrent.com/download.php to download, If you
don't already have a torrent client.

Burn the ISO to a CD and boot up with it.

Since the Pix's are priceless, you should purchase or support the
program(s) that fixed you up.

If the pictures are priceless then must have backed them up.
Restore them from your backup medium. If you haven't then
you may have to consider this unfortunate event as a very
painful lesson. A 2.5" disk in an external USB enclosure
costs very little and is an excellent backup medium.

If all else fails try to find services that can recover data from hard drives.

I haven't used them for years, as I learned to backup, and I haven't had a
disk crash. I worked at a company where the HD just went kaput, no backup,
and an employee drove to CT from NYC with it, recovered the data, and came
back, in a day.

You can give this a try if the data is a important as you say it is.

You MUST boot from the Windows XP CD, whether retail or OEM, continue on to
where the installer looks for previous versions of an operating system on
your computer. If one is found, you CAN choose to repair said install. If
one is not found, your partitions are screwed up and you will have to start
from fresh.

You "will" lose everything.

i would highly suggest to "stop everything" and go buy another
harddrive where you can install a funtional o.s. and have the
ability to work from in order to repair the crashed drive.

once your pc is functional with the new hd and o.s. then
connect the failed hd as a slave.

your new o.s./hd may not be able to read the
file system on the crashed hd. but now you
can acquire the necessary tools off the net
and install on the working o.s.

one of the first tools i would install on the
new o.s. is acronis disk director. the free
trial version will give you some unique options,
like viewing crashed partitions, recovering deleted
partitions. however, the options to repair them
are provided in the purchase of the program.

i bought it and have been very pleased with
this investment....

g.l.....
