You could try doing all the things you are supposed to do without your
parents have to tell you even once (let alone over and over again). You
could also try not doing all the things you're not supposed to do. Result.
Happy parents and a happy Chris. Win Win.

G'Day Chris,

One day, YOU will have kids. At that time YOU will expect to be the Boss -
and rightly so.

Sit down quietly and think ...
How will YOU deal with a kid like YOU?
How will you make it clear that things are not that simple?
That things are not that easy?
That good results (in all things incl. relationships) require good WORK?
How will you explain that his/her attitude has a HUGE impact on how
others deal with him/her? That if a kid (wrongly) anticipates aggression
(or whatever), then s/he will approach life with an 'attitude' that
inspires
others to respond aggressively (or whatever)? That in this way we
CREATE the very thing that we anticipate or dread?
How would you explain that s/he cannot have all the Cool things s/he
wants? That the Cool things are never enough - there is always
something way Cooler?

All I can say Chris is this ...
Try to be a Good Kid so that one day you can be a Good Parent ...

All the very best!!

That depends on your age Chris.
0-2 nothing quite says it like sick on their best clothes
2-8 stick your fingers in your ears and sing 'la la la I'm not listening'
9-12 roll your eyes. a lot.
13-18 slam doors, paint your room black, winge about it on myspace
19-22 move out
23-27 grow a pair
+27 revert to 2-8

and always remember that they are only doing it because they love you

I haven't lived at home since the early 70's and my mom (occasionally) still
tells me what to do. The difference between then and now is that I will
listen to her suggestions, weigh them against my thoughts, evaluation the
pros and cons of both sides, then do what she says because ultimately Mom
does know best.

The same does not hold true for what my mother-in-law might say. Fortunately
she doesn't usually offer me suggestions. ;-)

There are, AFAIK, over 100,000 registered Jedi in the UK

When the last census came round it was pointed out by some one that if
there were more than 100K people to any particular "religion" then it
would become an officially listed religion for the UK.......

For very many reasons a lot of people (over 100K I think) did put them
selves down as Jedi Kinghts in the space for religion :)

BTW I do have a problem you might be able to help with...

1 I have 2 teenage boys who think the world owes them a living :)

and 2....
I have word 2003 SP2 with a 150 page document. Lots of tables some
stuff in 2 columns, mixed landscape and portrait pages. Contents pages
etc

All went well until I put in a background watermark "final draft V
1.01" Now I need to remove the watermark it only removes it on the first
14 pages . Ie just up to and including the contents page

From Chapter 1 ( a new section and new header footer and "page1") to the
end the background watermark is still there.

No matter what I try I can't seem to remove the background watermark.
(Even loaded it on to a copy of Word 2004 MAC!) Any suggestions other
than hacking it in a hex editor?

Any help gratefully received.

Hi Chris

I know - I'm actually English and was living in Scotland at the time. You

Prob 1. Yes, that's Gen Y for you
Prob 2. Did you insert the watermark using Format->Background->watermark? I
ask as in Word 2000 a watermark needed to be added manually as part of the
header. The fact it hasn't gone when you have diff sections & headers is
making me suspicious. From memory View-> Header/Footer click the button that
says 'show/hide document text' then you should be able to select the
'watermark' and hit Delete. If that doesn't work start a new thread and
someone else might have an answer :)

Open the header area. Using the Next and Previous buttons on the
Header/Footer toolbar, visit the header of each section. Wherever you
see the watermark, select it and press Delete.

The problem is that the Format > Background > Printed Watermark
command knows how to _insert_ a watermark in each section, but (unless
all the headers are formatted Same As Previous) it's stupid about
removing the watermark from more than one section, so you have to do
it manually.

Hi,

thanks for the help. In the end I had to go to each section open the
header/footer, then hide the main document text, then click on the
watermark and delete from each section.
