Parallel to USB Cable Installation

I am trying to use a SYBA USB to Parallel Cable to support my Color LaserJet
5 printer underVISTA. I checked SYNA and they stated support for only SPP
mode but don't know where to change to SPP mode. Also, is there a special
driver to change theinterface from Parallel to USB?

I also tried using the installed Manhattan Parallel Port card but the result
is always the same - data is loaded into the printer and then disappears
without printing and no errors.

You are going to have to install Vista drivers for that printer. It's old
enough I don't know if there are any. Visit the HP site, and look for Vista
drivers for that model.

The converter may - I have no experience with such a beast - also require
Vista drivers.

Good luck

Hi, I hope some of you guys are still watching this theme.
Can anyone tell me if there is a driver needed for a Parallel to usb cable
(from printer to pc)? I have a vista OS.
Many thanks Bill

I have an older HP LaserJet 2100xi that uses a parallel port. I bought a USB
to Parallel adapter (from Belken I think), connected it to my HP printer and
it worked with no additional drivers. It recognized my printer immediately
and worked - with one caveat. When I would print a document the first page
seem to come out with garbage but the subsequent pages printed fine with no
loss of data.
