Paragraph Indents in Notes Page

My question pertains to the Notes Page in Powerpoint, Microsoft Office 97. When I adjust the indent for the text on a bulleted list (by moving the indent marker on the ruler), all of my paragraphs hang. I'd like the paragraphs and bullets to be left-justified, with bullet text about .25 inches from the bullet. How do I do this?

If I understand correctly, you're trying to control one
kind of paragraph (bulleted) separately from another kind
(non-bulleted). The Auto-Layout text box on a notes page--
or ANY text box for that matter--cannot hold more than
one indent formatting. Therefore, to create paragraphs
that appear to have different indentation (e.g., one as
hanging and another fully indented with no hanging), you
have to (1) create separate text boxes, or (2) be clever
with how you set up tabs, and push over paragraphs that
needs to appear indented differently.

I'm not sure I understand this part: "When I adjust the indent for the
text on a bulleted list (by moving the indent marker on the ruler), all
of my paragraphs hang." I mean, that's what the indents do -- they set
the indentation for that level of bulleted text in the notes area.

Type some text in your notes area and apply a bullet to it. Then make
sure your ruler is turned on. You'll want your top indent marker on the
ruler to be flush left -- that sets the bullet position. Then just hold
down your CTRL key while you slide the bottom marker around until your
text hangs the way you want it. That sets the indent for all lines of
text in the bullet.

If you have multi-leveled bullets, just adjust those indent markers as
well. If you hold down that CTRL button, you can position them butt-up
against the first ones if you want.

If you want some text without a bullet and want it to be flush left, but
other text to have a bullet and hang, then you need to "demote" the
bulleted text using the big green arrow icon on the formatting toolbar.
That gives you a second set of indent markers which you can use to apply
only to that level of text.

Thanks, Echo. Your suggestion worked. I have one follow-up question. When I "demote" the bulleted text, the text wraps around too far to the left (that is, it lines up with the bullet, rather than the bulleted text). The only way I can get the text to line up is to tab it .25" to the right. However, putting in hard returns like this will make editing cumbersome. Do you have any other suggestions?

You should be able to align it (so it hangs properly) by just dragging
the bottom one of the second set of indent markers on the ruler.
