Paragraph border line not printing

F

Ferdinand Fichtner

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my installation of Word 2000. The problem
seems to come up once in a while in this newsgroup, but does not seem
to be resolved.

When applying a border to a paragraph (such as a lower border in the
heading line or a box around a paragraph), this border is not
*printed* on my HP Laser Jet 5L. The same document prints fine on
other computers, though. I'm using regular solid borders, 1pt width.

The problem seems not to be printer-related, as other printers (e.g.
PDF-writer) attached to my computer show the same strange behaviour.
The border is shown in the page layout and the print preview, btw. All
other objects (like drawing objects etc.) are printed correctly.

The problem isn't document related, too. This happens with all the
documents and all templates I tried.

I checked the options and installed all service releases, but could
not fix the problem.

Thanks for any further suggestions,

Greetings,

Ferdinand

I know this is going to sound very bizarre, but you could try updating your display driver

I used to see problems like this on PowerPoint years ago, and using a different display driver version did the trick. (I won a few bets on that one - nobody ever believed it would work.

From experience though, make sure you get as much information on the current version of your display driver as possible before you install something else over it - just in case the updated version turns out to be less reliable than the one you have now and you need to put it back on. At least if you know what you had before you've got a better chance of tracking it down to reinstall

Hope this help

Thank you for your suggestion, but that's not my problem.

It doesn't matter where on the page the paragraph border is, it gets lost on its way to the printer.

Hi Julia,

thanks for your reply.

Didn't help. I even tried the standard Win2K SVGA driver, updated
DirectX but the problem still showed up.

Any more suggestions?

Confused, Ferdinand
