Pages won't load after a while have to restart

After about 30 minutes or so of browsing just fine pages stop loading or
stall at about halfway. I wait and wait and nothing. The only thing I can
find that works is to restart my computer. After doing this everything is
very quick again. I have COX as my ISP and I called them. They have no idea
why this is happening because after checking all my settings they are what
they should be. I have tried disableing Windows Firewall and that did not
seem to help so I enabled it again. I am getting tired of having to restart
my computer all the time. Also, this is a recent problem. When I first
hooked up my new modem and got online everything was wonderful, very fast. It
seems to be getting worse too. It happens when I use my Firefox browser too.
I am at a loss. I have tried all the little tricks I know

Hi Jennie :)

If you don't have dial-up, try the following and see if it helps:

Network and Dialup Connections

Control Panel
Network and Dialup Connections
Local Area Connection
Properties
Configure
Power Management
Uncheck both boxes on this dialog page

also....

Go to IE tools/internet options/connection/dial up settings/advanced dial up
settings.

Make sure that "Disconnect when connection may no longer be required" is
turned off, and that the option to "Disconnect if idle" is turned off as
well.
Later Windows versions have an option to disconnect when connection speed
drops below a certain percentage. Turn that off.

Outlook Express options can cause problems if the programme is running.

Go to Outlook Express, tools/options/connection and make sure *Connect to
this account using* is not selected for each mail and news account. Make
sure there is no conflict in account settings - each account should show the
connection option of *any available*.

Next in Outlook Express go to tools/options/connection and turn off *Hang
up after send/receive*.

Hope this helps

I don't have dial up. I checked and the things you suggested are already set
that way. I am still at a loss as to what to do. :( It's so irritating. I
don't think it is the browser because it happend no matter which one I use.
Also, my connection is great. I think this is a problem with something other
than the connection or the browser? an add on maybe or setting I am unaware
of? I just dont get why when I restart everything is fine. Also I check for
spyware on a regular basis too.

Hi Jennie :)

Well..knowing that is happens with other browsers as well make a difference.
It is not just IE. What have you installed, changed or added around the
time this all started?

Do you have Zone Alarm Pro?:

Zone Alarm Pro can block access to Internet

If it just happened all of a sudden without anything new or changes, then
most likely you have soem type of malware on your machine that your AV and
spyware scanner cannot detect. In addition to running your AdAware and
SpyBot in Safe Mode, download, install and run the the following programs in
Safe Mode, with Hidden Files enabled also:

Thanks I will give those a try. I think it has to be something like that or
some kind of problem with something I installed not being compatible because
when I check my connection it should be hauling buns. The guy at Cox said
that as far as he could see I should be clicking away no problems. Thanks
again for the reply I appreciate it a lot!

It sometimes helps to disconnect and unplug the modem for a few minutes and
reconnect.

Do you think it could have been java? I checked and the cache was set at 50
mb and I set it to unlimited and now pages are loading again. Before that I
ran Spycather and Spybot and they did find problems but there was no change
after fixing them.
