PAGE_FAULT_NONPAGED_AREA stop message during Installation

I was previously running WinXP Pro on this machine. I got a virus and decided
to install Win2k on this system. During installation of Win2k, (during the
format portion of installation) I have received one of 2 stop messages:
PAGE_FAULT_NONPAGED_AREA or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I was assuming that this could possibly be a related to corrupt or bad
sectors on the HD. I have ran a low level format on the HD to write all 0's
to it. Ran the installation again a have gotten the same error message as
before. Is this error related to the HD or possibly bad memory?

Stop 0x50's and 0xa's are often driver related. Since you installed a
different version of Windows than you were running before, make sure you are
using drivers designed for Windows 2000. Also, make sure to remove all USB
devices and any other external or internal components not required on the
system.
