Page Numbering in Power Point

Guest

In presentations we produce we have a page numbering convention that requires us to show numbering in the format "Pg X of Y" where X is the current slide number and Y is the total number of slides in the presentation. PowerPoint's automatic page numbering takes care of X, but we haven't found any way to put Y in other than by hard coding it in the slide master. It's a pain every time slides are added or deleted to go back and change Y in the master

Does anyone know of an add-in or other method of automating this paging converntion??

Thanks very much! This is exactly what we needed. And for proper credit, as the FAQ says, "THANK YOU, MR. BILL!"

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for
so the total number of pages would either have to entered manually, or
write a macro or use an add-in (I see that Michael and "B" have already
referred you to an add-in).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
be able to automatically calculate and insert the total number of slides,
or other calculated/dynamic fields such as filename, path, modify date,
etc. (without having to resort to VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send
your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
