Page numbering and Continuous Breaks

Is there any relationships between inserting continuous breaks and page
numbering?

I inserted 2 continuous breaks, then, page number got screwed. Now there
are two page 2 like page 1, 2, 2, instead page 1, 2, 3.

Why does this happen? How to fix it? Please help me.

I could change the second 2 by changing a setting from 'continuous' to
'start from 2.' Is it the correct way to fix it?

Thanks for you help

If your two breaks fall on the same page -- for instance if you have a
short two-column passage within one-column text -- you might have
overlooked formatting the page number as Continue in one or the other
of the breaks.

Thx but don't understand what you are saying.

What do you mean by ' for instance if you have a
short two-column passage within one-column text '?

What does this mean, you might have
overlooked formatting the page number as Continue in one or the other
of the breaks.?

The first page numbering is Start at 1, and the rest is Continue from the
previous.

As you say, two Continuous Breaks are inserted in the same page.

Thx

My questions are,

1. Is this supposed to happen if multiple Continuous section breaks are
inserted in the same page?
2. What am I supposed to do to prevent it from happening?

I realy don't understand when you say, "you might have
I inserted page number by Insert>Page numbers>Format...>Start at 1, for the
whole document. It was OK until I inserted multiple Continuous section breaks
in the same page.

Thx

Why do you need such small sections, if not in order to change the
number of columns within a page? Can't you simply delete some of the
section breaks?

Have you tried looking at every Header from Section 1 on, including
all of the "Different First Page" and "Different Left and Right" that
you may have used, to be sure you have Continue selected every time?
Are you sure that you have the { PAGE } field in every header and
didn't accidentally just type the page no. "2" in one of them?

all of the "Different First Page"
-- This is OK. I deselect DFP first thing when I have breaks.
and "Different Left and Right" you may have used, to
-- Are you talking about Different Odd and Even? If so, it's deselected.
be sure you have Continue selected every time?
-- don't understand this. r u talking about Footer? This is only 3 page doc.

-First page has section 1, 2. (1 is title, 2 is 2 column body)
-Second page has section 2,3,4,5 (continued 2, 3 is 3 columns, 4 is 1
column, 5 is 2 columns)
-Third page has section 5. (continued 5)
Are you sure that you have the { PAGE } field in every header and
didn't accidentally just type the page no. "2" in one of them?
-- No accidental type in. PNumber is in footer. I tried to remove frame
and toggled. Every page field is {page }.

All I can say is when I delete breaks 3 and 4, or makes the number of breaks
1 in a page (or something like that) corrects the situation.
