Page not being displayed

When I enter in the address line ____www.google.co.uk in
IE 6, the screen comes up with 'The page cannot be
displayed' but when I look at its properties it is
res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm#http://ww
w.google.co.uk/
I think this is the big clue

The problem is that no web pages display at all.
Outlook express works fine I can use the email ok, so
that proves it is connected ok.
On Ie6 just the page with the I 'The page cannot be
displayed' comes up.

The curious thing, is that I can see the contents of a
page in history, say last week that diplays ok, but when
I go online it blanks out.

You probably have been hit by a parasite.

Download this tool in case you need it once you have removed the culprit.
You will have to run it, it after removing the parasites you are unable to
get to any page or surf the net.

http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm (Win 98. ME )
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html (for Win2k, XP)

For now try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
