Page Design - many menu items

Hi, I wish to re-design an existing site for Golfers. I am using FP2003 and
have bought DHTML Menu Builder from Xfx which is good. I would also like to
use dynamic web templates. But on one of my pages I wish to show game
results, at least one per week and growing. Currently I do this via a sub-web
with no theme or shared borders with a single frameset page of three frames.
LHS shows dates and RHS results for that date. This works fine but is not
consistent with rest of site. I'd like to use dynamic menus for primary
navigation but need a smart way to show results which is easy to navigate and
easy to update each week. Every thing I try (framesets, DWTs, whatever) runs
into limitations and prevents me doing what I want. Any suggestions anyone?
Or examples. See: www.woodburyseniors.info

First thing you should do is remove all spaces from all file and folder names (especially the subweb name)
- breaks links
Don't know why you need a subweb and frames for such a simple set of links (7 pages)
- all you would need is a separate nav bar and page for each date

Also don't understand what "limitations" prevent you from using the theme or shared border (w/o a subweb) or a DWT (will work
across subwebs) on those pages

I have a theme with shared borders and navigation. I tried creating a
separate "results" navbar in the vertical shared border but naturally it
applies to all pages! No good. Moreover if I keep the primary site navbar I
would soon run out of space in the vertical border as I use golfball images
for each item. If I delete the primary navbar from that page it gets deleted
from all pages! Get the drift about shared border limitations? Putting a
linkbar in the body of my results page makes no sense as that would require
putting it on all results pages. It was easier and neater to use a frameset
and subweb as mentioned. Maybe you didn't understand my problem? Did you see
my site? Look at the results page at
http://www.woodburyseniors.info/Rollup Results/index.htm and see how that
differs from the rest of the site.
I have no problem with spaces in file/folder names. I am using a hosting
service with MS web servers which happily accepts such. It is too much of a
chore to change now.
Any help on the navigation issue would be welcome...

Switch to using the FP Include Page component which offers a lot more flexibility and you can have
as many on a page as needed, however you do have to insert it manually the first time.

Thanks Thomas. I looked at Includes. The only thing I could come up with was
to take off shared borders for my results page. Insert a 2 column 1 row
table. Insert a custom navbar in first column and Include Page for a game
results page in the other. This would mean creating a copy of this for each
game result. This seems cumbersome and doesn't address my requirement to make
it easilly updateable.
Did I do as you intended with Include or had you something else in mind?
Can you expand please.

You can use the Includes as a replacement for shared borders. In general you would use the include
page for your navigation, header and footer, items the change, but rarely and appear on multiple
pages within the site. The big advantage is that you can insert them anywhere on a page, and
generally does requires the use of tables to structure your page layout.

Includes can be nested in other includes as well.

I am still not sure how to apply your suggestion. I have a "Results" page
that acts as a container for an "Index" page (list of dates) and a set of
results pages (one for each game). Clearly a one to many. Both Index page and
all results pages are contained within the results page.
As I understand it an "Include" page is one that you insert into another
page. Are you saying create an Include page that contains (local) navigation,
banner, header etc and then Include that into each results page? Seems a**se
about face! But I tried it and I lose all my theme stuff that's used by the
rest of the site (banner, horizontal navigation, global navigation etc). It
just adds the html of the included page to the bottom of my results page so
layout is pretty useless as is and will take some work to make good. I guess
I could then use this as a page template, but I can't re-establish my theme

1) don't put your nav bar in the shared border - put in the page
2) create a page w/ just your nav list (from your left frame) and include it on all the pages w/ results

| I'll go take a look at ASP and Access.
