Hello-
I have been attempting to access the new website www.buymusic.com
since it launched on Tuesday of this week. To this day I still have
not been able to access the site through Internet Explorer or
Netscape. This is the ONLY web page that I cannot access. There is
no problem surfing the web. The error message is that the Page Cannot
Be Displayed (DNS error or Can't find server).
I have done quite a bit of research and these are the steps that I
have taken thus far:
1. Disabled Norton Firewall and Norton Antivirus
2. Set all security to low
3. Set to accept all cookies
4. Deleted cookies and temporary internet files (set at 11 mg)
5. Reinstalled Internet Explorer and Windows 98SE
6. Released IP address and renewed it – though it renewed it as the
same number.
7. Put www.buymusic.com in my trusted sites
8. Checked the Hosts file – found nothing that referenced
www.buymusic.com
9. Closed all background running programs
10. Tried to ping www.buymusic.com with the result of : Unknown host
www.buymusic.com. (Note that I can ping other sites such as yahoo,
earthlink, etc.)
11. Verified DNS settings
12. Flushed DNS
13. Downloaded and used a program that was supposed to erase the
Index.dat file
This is really frustrating. I've been trying to get help through
Earthlink but the people there are clueless. I've read that the
problem may be with my ISP but if they are clueless, how do I make
them understand at least to check it out?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.
