Page Cannot Be Displayed

I am running into a problem using IE 6. Everytiime I try to go to a support
site, I get the infamous "Page Can Not Be Displayed" message. If I go to
download Windows XP SP2, I can get to the site where I should be able to
start the download but then get the message when I actually try to start. If
I try to go to the Microsoft Money Support wbsite I get the same thing. This
only seems to happen when I actually try to get to a support type of site. I
can't even get to windows download or windows update.

I am using IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.050301-1526CO
Cipher Strenght 128-bit
Update Versions: SP1, Q823353

Can someone please help, or at least point me in the right direction.

A certain third-party toolbar is a suspected cause of this symptom.

Okay, what tool-bar?

I can never remember. I don't use them. Google I think.

Why not try uninstalling any that you have and see if your symptom changes?

BTW I was offline when I replied. Try a search?

http://groups-beta.google.com/group...crosoft.*.ie6.browser&rnum=2#b3e207a5d6a90aff

(Google Groups search for
toolbar "microsoft sites" group:microsoft.*.ie6.browser
)

BTW that isn't the main reference that I would have preferred to have found
but it does indicate how long this solution has been known (over a year).

Oh. My recollection is faulty. Apparently what I was calling a "toolbar" may more
accurately be termed a "search bar". Making that change to the search criteria
and specifying that the reference to Microsoft occur in the Subject line finds the
post by C.A. Upsdell that I was remembering:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group...bject:microsoft&rnum=3&hl=en#9159c9c1ec5790be

(Google Groups search for:
"search bar" group:microsoft.*.ie6.browser insubject:microsoft
)

Good luck
