Page Cannot Be Displayed Error During SSL 3.0 Server Session Timeout (305217)

We believe we are having a problem with HTTPS/SSL connections in IE6
SP1 that may be related to the problems mentioned in the knowledge
base article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=305217

It is allegedly fixed by updating Wininet.dll to version 6.0.2800.1157
- however, this version of Wininet.dll is not listed in MS's DLL
database (<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp&SD=TECH&FR=0>).

I have a fully patched version of IE6 SP1 and I only have Wininet.dll
version 6.0.2800.1106.

Is there a specific hotfix that contains this fix?

From the article:

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that
are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional
testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not
severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for
the next Internet Explorer 6.0 service pack that contains this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support
Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit the
following Microsoft Web site:

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a
specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question. Important Install the February, 2003 Cumulative
Patch for Internet Explorer before you install this fix. For additional
information about this update, click the following article number to view

Nick,

If you do get the hotfix, can you let us know if it fixes the problem.?

I don't think it is exclusive to SSL operations.

thanks

We didn't get the hotfix, but we have fixed the issue.

Turning off keep-alives in IIS seemed to do the trick. (BTW, it was
exclusive to SSL operations for us)
