p4sgx-mx freezing

Hi,

I'm using a p4sgx-mx motherboard with a P4 2.66ghz 533 fsb and 512 mb of DDR
333 ram. During the windows xp setup the system freezes after a while.
Does anyone has experience with a similar specification?

Yes... we have two of these with Win98 and after about 2 hours they
start becoming unresponsive. Eventually freezing. Reboot fixes for
two hours. I have been searching for fix to couple of weeks.... no
luck yet.

The hardware vendor suspects the CPU is too fast for the old operating
system, but I am not convinced.
