P4PE with 3.2 Ghz (800FSB) P4

Hi,

I am using a P4PE w/2.8 Ghz, 533FSB P4 and 2x512 DDR333 DRAM. I am thinking
of upgrading to a P4 3.2 Ghz, 800FSB. According to Asus' website, I can only
use 1 DIMM if I were to use DDR400. Has anyone tried using 2 x DIMMs DDR
400( 2 x512 MB)? What if I were to stick to using 2X512 DDR333 DRAM? Will
this work?

Thanks,

N.S.

Yes, someone has tried it, and it doesn't work, and certainly not for the
slower ram you propose. You either need new faster ram and new motherboard,
or stick to what you have (which isn't that bad anyway, right?)

Hmmm... As Asus patiently explains, with the P4PE if you raise the FSB for
the CPU to 800 MHz, then you can only use ONE stick of RAM, regardless of
speed.

no...it won't work...plus it means it cannot run dual channel mode...

in my experiance, the extra fsb increase caused audible noise on the
onboard sound as well as pci card sound, this has yet to be fixed and
I would seriously stick with a 533 fsb proc on that board...
